The inaugural Marcum “Innovator of the Year” awards honors companies that have positively impacted Philadelphia’s economy with the “latest ground-breaking innovations”. Finalists in four categories (technology, energy, healthcare and Business management) were recognized for their commitment to pushing the boundaries of the status quo.
The Innovator of the Year Finalists were announced in a huge feature in Region’s Business (check out the whole issue below). Winners were announced at an incredible event at the Franklin Institute on November 14.
The event featured a keynote address from former PA Gov. Mark Schweiker – who braved a severe case of laryngitis to speak – as well as appearances from an electronic violin ensemble and even Philly’s foremost innovator himself, Ben Franklin.
Region’s Business declared 2013 the “Year of the Innovator” in January and has showcased Philadelphia’s new and emerging companies all year long. Philadelphia’s entrepreneurship scene is on the move (with Drexel University leading the way) and we are thrilled to be building Nooch in the city where the world was first introduced to cheesesteaks (…and America).
