our story

Growing up in the hippie community of Eugene, Oregon, in the ‘80s meant being exposed to some pretty random foods and early trends.

While such foods as tofu and kale—each a steady part of any food-conscientious Oregonian’s diet—are ubiquitous today, back then, they were unheard of to most of the country. One item in particular was a staple in the houses of hippie and vegan families – nutritional yeast. This topping would seemingly be put on everything — popcorn, salads, dressings, chili, pizza, toast, rice – you name it.

When I left Oregon I would rarely encounter this product anywhere. So I began to experiment with it — both in cooking and as a condiment. Mixing it with different seasonings and salts to find the best combination. Whenever I gave it to someone who had never tried it before, the reaction was universal: “What is that? It is so good!”

That is why I decided to launch Nooch—a premium nutritional yeast seasoning that makes everything taste better. It’s also the first product launched by Country Fare Company.
